Toyota Tsusho Manufacturing to Open Toyota Academy in Cambodia

Phnom Penh, July 9, 2024 – Toyota Tsusho Manufacturing (Cambodia) Co., Ltd. has announced plans to open a Toyota Academy in Cambodia. The plan was disclosed by Mr. Fujitsu Ryojo, Managing Director of Toyota Tsusho Manufacturing (Cambodia) Co., Ltd., during a meeting with Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet at the Peace Palace.

During the meeting, Mr. Fujitsu Ryojo updated the Prime Minister on the progress of the Toyota car assembly plant in Cambodia, which was officially inaugurated on May 2, 2024. He also sought recommendations regarding the establishment of the Toyota Academy.

Prime Minister Hun Manet expressed strong support for the initiative and encouraged the company to collaborate closely with the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training to finalize the details of the academy’s organization and business model. He suggested that the academy could either be established independently or in partnership with an existing government training school.

The Prime Minister also emphasized the importance of expanding the training scope to meet the broader needs of the automotive job market, both domestically and internationally, rather than focusing solely on Toyota’s human resource requirements.

Additionally, he urged Toyota to explore the feasibility of producing Toyota spare parts in Cambodia for both local and international markets and to consider cooperation with local companies that can supply accessories for Toyota vehicles.
