Cambodia, ASEAN Recognize Impact of Rapid Technological Change on Regional Supply Chain

Phnom Penh, July 3, 2024 - On the morning of July 2, 2024, Kung Phoak, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and Senior Minister of ASEAN of Cambodia, met with Professor Tetsuya Watanabe, President of the Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA), at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

During the meeting, both sides acknowledged the significant impact of rapid technological change on the regional supply chain. They exchanged views on potential areas of collaboration between Cambodia and ERIA, particularly in trade and investment, the digital economy, the green economy, the circular economy, sustainable development, artificial intelligence technology, and human resource development.

Kung Phoak highlighted ERIA's readiness to engage with both the public and private sectors in Cambodia on key initiatives that support the country's development goals.

He also took the opportunity to thank ERIA for its contributions to the ASEAN Community Building Efforts, especially its support for Cambodia during its chairmanship of ASEAN in 2022.
