PM Jokingly Prohibits Grandson from Going to Afghanistan

Phnom Penh: Prime Minister Hun Sen has shared an amusing exchange with his young grandson who, all dressed up as a soldier, said he wanted to go to Afghanistan. The Prime minister told his grandson he couldn’t go because it was too dangerous, with western powers having withdrawn.

The Prime Minister shared a Facebook exchange with his grandson telling the boy to rather stay in Cambodia and “help Grandpa against Covid-19”. His grandson replied that during the pandemic, “my mom is not allowing me to go out.”, to which the Prime Minister replied, “Good”.

The humorous exchange came a few hours after it was announced that the Prime Minister had agreed to temporarily accept 300 Afghan refugees before they travel onto a third country where they have applied for asylum. The request for temporary residence was made by the Asia Foundation in Cambodia through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
