Minister of Agriculture Advocates for Rubber Sector as a High-Value Industrial Crop

Phnom Penh, June 27, 2024 – Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, Dith Tina, presided over a meeting on June 26, 2024, focusing on a new initiative aimed at enhancing Cambodia's rubber sector. The meeting was held at the Ministry’s headquarters and included discussions on a proposed rubber planting competition.

During the meeting, Minister Tina highlighted the competition's goal to garner attention and motivate rubber workers to enhance their productivity. The initiative is also designed to foster greater participation in the rubber industry.

The Minister underscored the government's efforts to elevate the rubber sector, positioning it as a high-market industrial crop capable of being processed into various finished products, including gloves and other consumer goods.

The session was attended by senior officials, leaders, and technical staff from the General Department of Rubber, along with representatives from companies investing in Cambodia’s rubber industry.
