Cambodia and Malaysia Commit to Strengthening Bilateral Ties and Expanding Cooperation

Phnom Penh, June 26, 2024 – During a meeting this morning at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Cambodian and Malaysian officials expressed their satisfaction with the strong development of bilateral relations and cooperation across various sectors including trade, investment, agriculture, the Halal industry, ICT, and digital sectors.

The Deputy Prime Minister reminisced about Prime Minister Hun Manet's official visit to Malaysia in February 2024, noting the warm reception and the significant outcomes that further deepened the ties between the two nations.

Both the Cambodian top diplomat and the Malaysian ambassador highlighted the necessity of holding the Third Joint Commission for Bilateral Cooperation (3rd JCBC) meeting. This meeting is expected to enhance bilateral cooperation and explore additional areas of mutual interest at a time convenient for both parties.

Discussions also covered cooperation within ASEAN, the United Nations, and other international forums, where Cambodia and Malaysia have historically supported each other and pledged to continue this tradition of mutual backing.
