Japan's Ambassador Cheers Cambodian Paralympic Athlete

Japan: Japan's Ambassador to Cambodia Mikami Masahiro has cheered the Cambodian paralympic athlete, Van Vun, as he competes in Tokyo. Vun has been trained for many years under the support of Hearts of Gold, a Japanese NGO that has long been involved in development cooperation through sports and education in Cambodia.

Ambassador Masahiro says, "I am glad to see an athlete with ties to Japan will be representing Cambodia at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games. I wish him all the best and I hope he will give courage and hope to both people in Japan and Cambodia, and to people all over the world".

The Paralympic Games is the world's premier competition for handicapped athletes held every four years. This time, it is being held in Japan, the same as 2020 Olympic Games. Masahiro has added, "I believe that we are not only inspired genuinely by the competitions but also learn a lot of things, for example, the diversity of values in our society and the importance of keeping trying. Let's support the Paralympic athletes together."
