Minister of Justice Launches New Government Working Groups in Battambang Districts

Battambang, June 5, 2024 - This Sunday, June 9, 2024, Keut Rith, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Justice, chaired a significant ceremony in Battambang province to unveil the new composition of the Royal Government's Working Groups for Rukkiri and Maung Russey districts. The event saw the participation of senior leaders from the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Interior, along with local authorities, government officials, and residents from both districts.

During the event, Minister Keut Rith officially congratulated Mao Chandara, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, now chairing the Working Group for Rukkiri District, and Chin Malin, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Justice, appointed as the chair for Maung Russey District. He commended the efforts of all the newly announced members for their commitment to local development.

The Deputy Prime Minister highlighted the Royal Government's current strategic priorities under the Pentagon Strategy of the 7th legislature of the National Assembly, initiated by Prime Minister Hun Manet. He outlined five key measures for local governance, emphasizing the enforcement of the "Safe Village-Commune-Sangkat" policy. This initiative aims to bolster community safety, focusing on the urgent eradication of drug trafficking and usage.

Moreover, Keut Rith urged stringent and prompt actions against gang-related activities that threaten public safety, echoing directives issued by the Prime Minister on May 23, 2024.

In his concluding remarks, the Minister set forth comprehensive directives for the Working Groups, which include maintaining peace and political stability, enhancing local governance capabilities, improving public services, and boosting local development through effective resource mobilization and investment attraction. These initiatives are designed to uplift the living standards of the local populace and ensure efficient service delivery in line with the government’s overarching policies.
