Cambodian Red Cross Funds $700,000 for Homes for Veterans

Pursat: The Cambodian Red Cross has donated a further $698,000 to the Cambodian Veterans’ Association for the construction of 328 homes in Pursat Province. The initiative was launched by Cambodian Red Cross President Bun Rany Hun Sen, together with the organisation’s Honorary President, Her Majesty The Queen Mother.

The funding ceremony was held at the headquarters of the Cambodian Red Cross and was attended by its Vice President and Secretary-General of the Cambodian Veterans Association, Kun Kim. This is the third phase of funding to continue the construction of housing for a total of 628 veterans in the Phnom Kravanh district of Pursat.

The first phase donation of $500,000 was made on 8 February, with an additional $1-million on 6 July. The first 50 houses were handed over on 12 June, with another 250 on 15 August. The final phase, involving 328 houses is scheduled for handover in November.
