Cambodia's Official Verification Platform verify.gov.kh Recognized at Global Digital Services Award Program

Phnom Penh – The Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications (MPT) proudly announces that Cambodia's "Official Verification Center of the Royal Government verify.gov.kh," developed by CPT, has achieved significant international recognition.

At the "WSIS Digital Service Design 2024" competition, part of the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) +20 Forum High-Level Event 2024, verify.gov.kh was distinguished as a finalist among 50 global digital systems. The platform secured second place, with Uganda’s UgPass digital identity and electronic signature system taking the top spot.

The WSIS +20 Forum, co-hosted by four United Nations specialized agencies—the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), UNESCO, the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), and the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD)—marks two decades of progress in global digital collaboration. This year's forum in Geneva, Switzerland, gathered approximately 500 high-level delegates, including 80 ministers and chief digital regulators from 160 countries and 40 UN partners.

The WSIS Digital Service Design 2024 awards recognize the world's leading digital government services that prioritize user needs and are built on robust digital public infrastructure. Out of 50 entries, nine finalists, including Cambodia's verify.gov.kh, were selected for their adherence to seven key development principles: public benefit, cybersecurity resilience, user-friendliness, flexibility, minimal technical requirements, interoperability, and sustainability.

Among the other finalists were India’s DigiLocker, a digital archive serving 236 million users, and Indonesia's SATUSEHAT, a health data exchange system with 55 million mobile app downloads. Verify.gov.kh earned its high ranking due to several unique features:

- Secure linking of paper and digital documents, enabling official use both domestically and internationally.

- Easy and rapid setup in other countries.

- Facilitation of cross-border communication and verification of documents through the forthcoming Universal Verify App.

Verify.gov.kh is poised to play a pivotal role in accelerating the digital revolution within Cambodia's public sector, enhancing public trust and service convenience. This aligns with the vision of Prime Minister Samdech Moha President Hun Manet, underscoring Cambodia's commitment to digital advancement.

Developed by KPRT, verify.gov.kh utilizes secure blockchain technology to authenticate various documents, including licenses, certificates, diplomas, and identity cards. This innovative platform aims to eradicate document fraud, streamline verification processes, save time, reduce costs, and further Cambodia’s digital transformation.
