World Linh Chamber of Commerce President Praises Cambodia's Rapid Growth, Expresses Investment Interest

Phnom Penh: On the afternoon of May 28, 2024, Prime Minister Hun Manet of the Kingdom of Cambodia received Mr. Tan Sri Dato Lim Soon Peng, President of the World Linh Chamber of Commerce, along with his delegation at the Peace Palace.

During the meeting, Mr. Tan Sri Dato Lim Soon Peng expressed his profound gratitude to the Prime Minister for taking the time to meet with him and his delegation. He highlighted the World Linh Chamber of Commerce as a non-profit association founded in 2011, committed to fostering global trade connections. Mr. Lim commended Cambodia's impressive economic growth and political stability, which he noted as pivotal factors in creating a favorable investment environment.

Mr. Lim further outlined the purpose of the delegation's visit, which was to explore investment opportunities in various sectors including construction, real estate, agriculture, green energy, and healthcare. He also announced plans for the World Linh Chamber of Commerce to collaborate with the Cambodian Linh family in organizing a significant conference scheduled for November 2024 in Cambodia. This event is expected to attract 1,000 to 2,000 members and investors, aiming to explore and connect over potential investment opportunities in the Kingdom.

In response, Prime Minister Hun Manet extended a warm welcome to the delegation and expressed his appreciation for their interest in investing in Cambodia. The Prime Minister elaborated on the Royal Government of Cambodia’s supportive measures for investment, which include:

1. Maintaining Peace and Stability: Commitment to sustaining political stability, social order, and macroeconomic stability, including controlling inflation, to ensure a predictable investment climate.

2. Infrastructure Development: Ongoing construction of key infrastructure such as deep-sea ports, new airports, and modernized railways to position Cambodia as a logistical hub in the region.

3. Clean Energy Initiatives: Achieving 62% clean energy consumption of total energy usage, with a target to increase this to 70% by 2030.

4. Market Connectivity: Enhancing connectivity to international markets through bilateral and multilateral free trade agreements, and integrating into regional frameworks.

5. Workforce Development: Focusing on capacity building through reskilling and upskilling mechanisms to meet market demands.

Prime Minister Hun Manet also expressed his support for the upcoming World Linh Chamber of Commerce Conference in Cambodia. He encouraged the Chamber to collaborate with relevant Cambodian ministries and institutions to ensure the success of the conference and attract more investors to explore opportunities in Cambodia.

The Prime Minister concluded by reiterating his hope that the conference will lead to increased investment and strengthened economic ties between Cambodia and the global business community.
