Phnom Penh: In a heartfelt farewell at the Peace Palace on May 28, 2024, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet bid adieu to the departing Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia, Mr. Wang Vinthean. The Prime Minister expressed his best wishes to Mr. Wang as he embarks on a new professional journey, acknowledging the ambassador's significant contributions to Cambodia-China relations. Mr. Wang reciprocated by expressing his gratitude to the Royal Government of Cambodia, highlighting the nation's strides in political stability, economic growth, and investor confidence. He praised the country’s progressive reform programs and burgeoning tourism industry.
During his tenure, Ambassador Wang played a pivotal role in strengthening the bilateral ties between Cambodia and China, overseeing landmark projects like the Phnom Penh-Sihanoukville Expressway, the Siem Reap-Angkor International Airport, and initiatives to combat the Covid-19 pandemic. These projects not only symbolize infrastructural advancement but also the robust partnership and mutual assistance between the two nations. Wang's tenure epitomized the spirit of a "loyal and trustworthy steel friend."
Ambassador Wang reaffirmed the Chinese government’s commitment to supporting Cambodia’s socio-economic development. He expressed his satisfaction with the accomplishments achieved during his diplomatic mission and his pride in contributing to the dynamic Sino-Cambodian relations.
