Cambodia's Warm Farewell to Ambassador Wang Vinthean

Phnom Penh: In a heartfelt farewell at the Peace Palace on May 28, 2024, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet bid adieu to the departing Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia, Mr. Wang Vinthean. Reflecting the deep-seated friendship between Cambodia and China, Prime Minister Hun Manet assured Mr. Wang that "Cambodia is always waiting and welcoming him."

The Prime Minister expressed his best wishes to Mr. Wang as he embarks on a new professional journey, acknowledging the ambassador's significant contributions to Cambodia-China relations. Mr. Wang reciprocated by expressing his gratitude to the Royal Government of Cambodia, highlighting the nation's strides in political stability, economic growth, and investor confidence. He praised the country’s progressive reform programs and burgeoning tourism industry.

During his tenure, Ambassador Wang played a pivotal role in strengthening the bilateral ties between Cambodia and China, overseeing landmark projects like the Phnom Penh-Sihanoukville Expressway, the Siem Reap-Angkor International Airport, and initiatives to combat the Covid-19 pandemic. These projects not only symbolize infrastructural advancement but also the robust partnership and mutual assistance between the two nations. Wang's tenure epitomized the spirit of a "loyal and trustworthy steel friend."

Ambassador Wang reaffirmed the Chinese government’s commitment to supporting Cambodia’s socio-economic development. He expressed his satisfaction with the accomplishments achieved during his diplomatic mission and his pride in contributing to the dynamic Sino-Cambodian relations.

Prime Minister Hun Manet lauded Ambassador Wang’s efforts and achievements, acknowledging his role in bolstering economic cooperation and fostering socio-economic progress in Cambodia. The farewell was followed by the inauguration of the "Third Ring Road," now named "Si Jin Ping Blvd," a new symbol of the continued collaboration between Cambodia and China, linking National Road No. 1 to National Road No. 4.
