Ten Technical Institutes Evaluate C1 Level Trainees’ Skills Ahead of Entering Cambodia's Thriving Labor Market
PHNOM PENH, May 28, 2024 — Yesterday, ten additional technical training institutes operating under the Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training conducted skills tests for trainees who completed a four-month, Monday-to-Friday training program. The assessments aimed to verify the trainees' readiness for the competitive labor market.
Dr. Bun Phearin, Director of the National Polytechnic Institute of Cambodia (NPIC), one of the institutes where testing occurred, commended the trainees' proficiency and their potential for securing quality employment in sectors with high demand across Cambodia.
“The trainees demonstrated commendable competencies in their final assessments today, with most already receiving job offers. The standout skills among them included electrical work and baking,” remarked Dr. Phearin.
According to NPIC's director, these evaluations are crucial not only for measuring the trainees’ capabilities but also for validating their qualifications through certificates that reflect their skill levels and market readiness.
In the Technical and Vocational Degree 1 (C1) program, which requires full-day attendance from Monday to Friday, 109 NPIC trainees were tested in five key areas: residential electrical installation, automobile maintenance and repair, automotive electrical systems, residential air conditioning services, and pastry production.
As of May 27, 35 out of 37 technical training institutes affiliated with the Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training have concluded their tripartite testing phases, following the initial tests on May 15 and May 20. This series of assessments began after the institutes reopened on January 15, 2024.
