Three Cambodian Female Students Clinch Third Place in Global ICT Contest

PHNOM PENH, May 28, 2024 – In a achievement on the global academic stage, three Cambodian female students from the Institute of Technology of Cambodia have secured third place at the Huawei ICT Competition Global Final 2023-2024.

The announcement was made by Dr. Oum Romney, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Education, Youth, and Sports, who led a senior delegation to the awards ceremony in Shenzhen City, China, on May 26. The event recognized top talents in the field of information and communications technology from around the world.

The laureates, Soeun Ussa, Seng Somonthavrath, and Seng Somonthavrin, are senior students specializing in telecommunications and network engineering. Their success not only highlights their exceptional skills but also enhances Cambodia's reputation in the international tech community.

Dr. Romney reported that the ceremony was attended by approximately 170,000 senior education officials and students from over 2,000 universities across more than 80 countries, including representatives from UNESCO.

This accolade is a testament to the capabilities and potential of Cambodian students in competing at high levels of global academic challenges.
