Phnom Penh, May 17, 2024 – Cambodia and the Republic of Korea are studying the possibility of establishing a Cambodia-Korea special economic zone in specific areas to attract more Korean investors.
On the morning of Thursday, May 16, 2024, First Deputy Prime Minister Sun Chanthol, also the First Vice President of the Council for the Development of Cambodia, co-signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Ahn Dukgeun, Minister of Commerce, Industry, and Energy of the Republic of Korea. The MoU was signed between the Cambodia Development Advisor Group and the Korean Ministry of Commerce, Industry, and Energy to promote investment cooperation.
The signing ceremony was presided over by Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet and South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol.
The MoU aims to strengthen cooperation on investment facilitation in both countries by creating a conducive environment for the establishment and expansion of investment and business activities.
The two sides agreed to explore the possibility of establishing a Cambodia-Korea special economic zone in specific sectors to attract more Korean investors.
