Cambodia, an Investment Destination and Potential Market for Korean Industry

Phnom Penh, 17 May 2024 – Cambodia is an investment destination and a potential market for the Korean industry, especially the automotive sector, underlined Han Duck-soo, Prime Minister of the Republic of Korea.

In a bilateral meeting with Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet in Seoul this afternoon, the South Korean Premier voiced his support and satisfaction with Hun Manet's initiative to create special economic zones for Korean companies and establish regular consultation sessions between the Korean Business Association in Cambodia and the Royal Government of Cambodia.

Han Duck-soo also expressed his pleasure at providing additional Official Development Assistance to Cambodia through the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA)’s grants and concessional loans via the Korea Economic Development Cooperation Fund (EDCF).

For his part, Hun Manet lauded the Cambodia-Korea relations and cooperation that have reached the level of a "Strategic Partnership" and spoke highly of the active contribution of the Korean government to Cambodia's socio-economic development.

Additionally, the Cambodian Premier highlighted the symbolic project of the Cambodia-Korea Friendship Bridge, scheduled to break ground for construction in the near future. The friendship bridge represents the long-standing friendship between the two countries, emphasized Hun Manet, thanking the Korean government for its valuable contribution to this project.

The two leaders reaffirmed their position and belief that the bilateral relations and cooperation between both nations, under the level of a strategic partnership, will continue to grow and become stronger.
