President Hun Sen Emphasizes CPP's Commitment in Upcoming Elections

Phnom Penh: In a heartfelt message to the nation, Samdech Techo Hun Sen, the President of the Cambodian People's Party (CPP), extended his deepest respect and gratitude to the Cambodian populace for their continued support. The message, directed at members of Commune/Sangkat Councils across Cambodia, came as the country prepares for the pivotal 4th mandate council elections on May 26, 2024.

President Hun Sen commended the electorate's steadfast trust in the CPP, recalling the party’s role in rescuing the nation from the genocidal regime and steering it towards peace and prosperity. He praised the people's noble will as demonstrated in the recent landslide victories in the 7th legislative election and the 5th Senate election, reflecting a collective desire to maintain peace, enhance democracy, and foster socio-economic growth.

The upcoming elections, although non-universal, are deemed crucial for democratic development at sub-national levels. President Hun Sen highlighted that these elections are a genuine expression of the people's will, with commune/sangkat council members serving as direct voters and supreme representatives of the populace.

The CPP President assured strict adherence to legal and ethical election standards and expressed a commitment to uphold free, fair, and secure electoral processes. He reiterated the CPP's dedication to implementing its political program aimed at maintaining national peace and stability, safeguarding sovereignty, and promoting a robust democracy conducive to human rights and rapid economic growth.

Urging all eligible commune/sangkat council members to support the CPP, symbolized by the flower angel on the ballot, President Hun Sen emphasized that voting for the CPP would secure the nation's, the people’s, and their own glorious future. He concluded his message with a traditional blessing, wishing all compatriots and council members health, happiness, strength, and prosperity.
