Hainan Litree to Invest up to $100 Million in Cambodia's Clean Water Sector

PHNOM PENH, April 13, 2024 – On May 10, Hem Vanndy, Minister of Industry, Science, Technology & Innovation (MISTI), met with representatives from Hainan Litree Purifying Technology Co., Ltd. to discuss the company's plans to enhance its investment in Cambodia’s vital clean water sector.

MISTI revealed that during the meeting, Dr. Cai Yunlong, CEO of Hainan Litree, highlighted the company's roots in 1992 and its prominence in membrane technology on a global scale, with distribution agents in various countries.

The "Litree Brand" of water purification equipment, the company's main product, is highly regarded for its effectiveness and is utilized in municipal water supplies, industrial water reuse, and household drinking water systems, benefiting over 3 million households worldwide.

In Cambodia, Litree's UF membrane products have been implemented in several provinces and cities, currently aiding in the treatment of approximately 11,000 cubic meters of drinking water per day. Dr. Cai disclosed plans to invest between $50 million to $100 million in the Cambodian water supply industry over the next three to five years.

Minister Vanndy expressed his support for Litree’s initiative to expand investments, particularly in regions where access to clean water is limited. He underscored MISTI’s commitment to fostering technology adoption in both public and private sectors and encouraged Litree to explore further opportunities for supplying bulk water to private operators, capitalizing on their technological expertise and established success.

The meeting underscored Hainan Litree’s dedication to aiding in the resolution of clean water challenges and the conservation of water resources in Cambodia. The company aims to deploy innovative membrane systems, containerized solutions, and public water safety services, all aligned with Cambodia’s sustainable development and environmental preservation goals.
