Cambodian Women's Hockey Team Aims for Top Honors at 2024 Women's Indoor Hockey Asia Cup

PHNOM PENH, April 10, 2024 – The Cambodian women's hockey team is gearing up for a strong performance at the 2024 Women's Indoor Hockey Asia Cup scheduled from May 13 to 16 in Thailand.

Secretary General of the Cambodian Hockey Federation (CHF), Mr. Kang Sothea, expressed optimism about the team's prospects, highlighting their growing experience and past achievements as key factors for potential success at the tournament.

"The team has shown remarkable progress and resilience, evidenced by their participation in a friendly match in Thailand’s Saraburi province in February and securing two bronze medals at the SEA Games 2023 held in Cambodia," Mr. Sothea remarked.

A favorable outcome at the Asia Cup could open doors for the team to compete in upcoming significant events like the Asian Martial Arts Games.

The tournament will feature teams from ten countries, with Cambodia placed in Group B alongside host Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, and Vietnam. Group A comprises teams from Iran, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Nepal, and Oman.

This marks the second appearance for the Cambodian women's team at this event, where they impressively ranked second among twelve teams last year.
