PHNOM PENH, April 10, 2024 – Prime Minister Hun Manet reiterated the Royal Government of Cambodia's commitment to enhancing economic diplomacy, a key priority for the new legislative term.
Hun Manet made these remarks during the official launch of the Cambodia Confederation of Investors Association and a solidarity dinner at the Koh Pich Convention and Exhibition Centre in Phnom Penh on May 9.
Hun Manet emphasized that economic diplomacy is crucial for fostering robust state-to-state and people-to-people relations. He highlighted the government’s achievements over the past eight months, noting that Cambodia approved 128 new investment and production expansion projects with a total capital of over US$2.5 billion, creating more than 130,000 jobs. Just yesterday, he signed off on 14 investment projects worth US$480 million.
Looking ahead, Hun Manet disclosed his upcoming travels aimed at attracting more foreign investment. “Next week, I will travel to the Republic of Korea, and next month to Singapore, where I will meet with many investors and businessmen,” he stated.
The Prime Minister reaffirmed the Royal Government's resolve to ensure political and economic stability and peace in Cambodia—essential factors in attracting further investment.
Efforts to improve the business environment in Cambodia will continue, with a focus on reducing bureaucracy and enhancing service delivery, complemented by partnerships with the private sector, Hun Manet added.
Furthermore, he assured that the government will maintain high standards in human resource development to meet the needs of both domestic and foreign investments in modern industries.
Neak Oknha Ly Kun Thai, Chairman of the Cambodia Confederation of Investors Association, lauded the partnership with the government, noting that it promises to bring about new achievements for the country and mutual benefits.
The Confederation aims to support foreign investors in Cambodia, fostering unity among them and providing the necessary resources for their success.
