Cambodia's Largest Nursery Set to Bloom in Tbong Khmum

Phnom Penh, 06 May, 2024: Tbong Khmum province is poised to host Cambodia's pioneering regional nursery, boasting an impressive production capacity exceeding 1 million seedlings annually. Spearheaded by Dr. Eang Sophalleth, Minister of Environment, the nursery is situated in Village 44, Preah Theat Commune, Oreang Leu District.

Marking a significant milestone in Cambodia's environmental initiatives, this expansive nursery is slated to produce 1.2 million seedlings yearly, harnessing the power of solar energy to facilitate an automated irrigation system.

The establishment of this regional nursery aligns with Cambodia's ambitious environmental goals, aiming to bolster forest coverage and propel the nation towards carbon neutrality. It underscores the nation's commitment to the Environmental Chakra Strategy 2023-2028, which envisions a substantial expansion of forest cover to surpass 60% by 2050.

The Royal Government of Cambodia continues its unwavering dedication to safeguarding natural resources, with a network of 73 protected areas spanning over 7 million hectares, encompassing 40% of the nation's landmass.
