Phnom Penh Provides Help to 300 Cyclo Drivers

Phnom Penh: Two kilograms of Longan fruit, a box of noodles, two boxes of face masks and two bottles of alcohols have been provided by Phnom Penh Capital Administration to 300 cyclo drivers on Thursday. The aid was initiated by Phnom Penh Governor Khuong Sreng to help the drivers who have been affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. These drivers’ income normally relies on tourists. However, with the ongoing Covid-19 problem in the kingdom, there is only very rare tourists.

Spokesman of Phnom Penh Capital Hall Met Meas Pheakdey says that these cyclo drivers have always been in the priority to receive help during difficult times especially during Covid-19. He has added that Prime Minister Hun Sen never forgets them. The Prime Minister is the Honorary Chairman of the Cambodian Tricycle Foundation while Phnom Penh Governor Khuong Sreng is the Chairman of the Board of Trustees.

Apart from the Covid-19 aid and Longan Fruit, the cycle drivers have also received their ID card for medical treatment at public hospitals. Pheakdey has added that the cyclo drivers will receive around $50 from the foundation which will be sent through Wing for their easy access.
