Weather Outlook for Cambodia, May 1-3, 2024: Diverse Conditions Across Regions

PHNOM PENH, Cambodia — The weather across Cambodia is set to experience varied conditions from May 1 to May 3, 2024, due to a low pressure system influencing the Gulf of Thailand, the entire Kingdom of Cambodia, the central Mekong Basin, and the South China Sea.

Lowland Areas

Residents in Cambodia's lowland regions can expect temperatures to fluctuate between a minimum of 26°C and a maximum of 39°C over the next three days. Winds will predominantly come from the southeast and southwest, averaging a speed of 3.5 meters per second. These areas will see stable weather conditions with no significant precipitation expected.

Upland Areas

Similar temperature ranges are forecast for the upland areas, with minimums holding at 26°C and maximums reaching up to 39°C. However, these regions will experience slightly calmer winds from the west and southwest, averaging 2.5 meters per second. There is a slight chance of rain, accompanied by thunder and gusts, affecting approximately 5% of the upland areas.

Coastal Areas

The coastal areas of Cambodia are anticipated to have slightly cooler conditions, with temperatures ranging from a minimum of 25°C to a maximum of 36°C. Winds in these regions will also average 2.5 meters per second, coming from a southwesterly direction. Coastal residents should prepare for intermittent rain with thunder and gusts, covering about 4% of the area. Additionally, wave heights are expected to vary, with an average minimum of 0.50 meters and a maximum of 1.50 meters.
