'Khmer Village' Set to Open in Japan

PHNOM PENH, April 24, 2024 — Cambodian Minister of Labour and Vocational Training, Heng Sour, met with a delegation from Kojima Holdings of Japan to discuss developments concerning the establishment of 'Khmer Village' in Isehara City, Kanagawa Prefecture.

During the meeting, which took place at the ministry on April 22, Takeshi Okami, Managing Director of Kojima Holdings, assured the Cambodian delegation that his team is committed to making the Khmer Village a popular attraction for foreign tourists, as well as Japanese residents and Cambodians living, working, and studying in Japan.

Minister Sour expressed gratitude towards the Japanese team for their dedication to bringing Cambodian culture to Japan through the Khmer Village initiative. The planned cultural hub aims to showcase a variety of Khmer traditions and products, including jewelry, food, coffee shops, and agricultural crops.

The opening of Khmer Village is scheduled for June this year, promising a unique cultural exchange and strengthening ties between Cambodia and Japan.
