Prime Minister Hun Manet Commends Efforts Toward Malaria-Free Cambodia by 2025

PHNOM PENH, April 24, 2024 — Prime Minister Hun Manet has expressed his full appreciation and support for the initiatives aimed at eradicating malaria in Cambodia by 2025, highlighting the significant strides made toward enhancing public health and socio-economic development. His remarks were part of a message delivered on the eve of National Malaria Day, which falls on April 25, under the theme "Promoting Equity, Health, Gender Equality, and Human Rights to Fight Malaria."

In his statement, Prime Minister Manet emphasized the importance of the activities contributing to Cambodia's goal of becoming malaria-free as part of the Pentagon Strategy - Phase I, which aligns with the priorities of the Royal Government during the Seventh Legislature of the National Assembly. These efforts, he noted, are crucial not only for health improvements but also for advancing human rights and gender equality.

The Prime Minister also extended his gratitude to all stakeholders involved in the malaria eradication efforts, including domestic and international partners, the Ministry of Health, the National Center for Malaria Control, Parasitology and Anthropology, and local health officers. He praised the Fever Eradication Working Group, local authorities, volunteers, and community members for their collaborative success in battling this disease.
