Prime Minister to Inaugurate New Facilities at Phnom Penh National Defense University

Phnom Penh, April 19, 2024 – Prime Minister Hun Manet will preside over the inauguration ceremony of new educational and residential buildings at the National Defense University in Phnom Penh on the morning of Friday, April 19, 2024. The event marks the official opening of a co-educational building, a residence building, and a canteen, all significant additions to the university’s infrastructure.

The new facilities, which include the co-educational and dormitory buildings as well as a canteen, were generously donated by Hun Sen and Bun Rany Hun Sen. The construction of these buildings commenced on October 4, 2020, and reached completion on June 5, 2023.

The National Defense University, an esteemed higher education institution under the Ministry of National Defense, focuses on comprehensive security studies including threat assessment, national defense policy, and border protection. It also offers extensive courses in military science, social science, real sciences, and foreign languages, tailored specifically for members of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces.

Moreover, the university plays a crucial role in the training and retraining of senior officers, professional officers, and specialized officers. Its curriculum is designed to equip them with the necessary skills to competently execute strategic measures, uphold defense policies, and perform their duties effectively as officers, commanders, and chiefs of staff.

This development is a significant step in enhancing the educational framework for Cambodia’s military personnel, ensuring they receive top-notch training and facilities.
