Free Public Bus Services to Ease Khmer New Year Travel

Phnom Penh, April 3, 2024 –Phnom Penh Administration has declared that it will offer free public bus services to ease the journey for those traveling between Phnom Penh and various provinces during the Khmer New Year celebrations. This initiative is set to run from April 12 to April 17, utilizing a fleet of 455 buses to accommodate the festive rush.

The Khmer New Year, welcoming the Year of the Dragon, is a four-day festivity commencing on April 13. It's a time when people across Cambodia return to their hometowns, visit pagodas, explore tourist spots, and indulge in a range of entertainment activities to ring in the New Year.

Offered annually by the Royal Government, the complimentary bus service is aimed at alleviating the financial burden of travel during one of Cambodia’s most significant national holidays. This gesture is expected to facilitate a smoother and more affordable homecoming for thousands looking to celebrate the occasion with their loved ones.
