Prime Minister Hun Manet Initiates Study of Ancient Khmer Laws for Preservation

Pursat, March 31, 2024: Prime Minister Hun Manet has issued directives for the comprehensive study and compilation of ancient Khmer laws into a book, underscoring the importance of preserving traditional values in Cambodian society.

Addressing attendees at the inauguration of the Botum Stupa at Moniratanarama pagoda in Pursat City, Pursat Province, Prime Minister Hun Manet emphasized the significance of maintaining ancient moral principles alongside modern advancements. He highlighted the need to compile ancient laws and customs into a comprehensive volume, including research on traditional Khmer attire.

Acknowledging the efforts of the Cambodian government over the past three decades in safeguarding the cultural heritage of the Khmer nation, Prime Minister Hun Manet reaffirmed the commitment to perpetuating this endeavor indefinitely.

The initiative to study and compile ancient Khmer laws reflects a dedication to preserving Cambodia's rich cultural legacy and ensuring that future generations inherit a profound understanding of their heritage.
