Prime Minister Hun Manet Launches "Traffic-Free Provinces" Competition for Khmer New Year

Pursat, March 31, 2024: In a bid to enhance road safety and reduce traffic accidents during the upcoming Khmer New Year celebrations, Prime Minister Hun Manet has initiated a "Traffic-Free Provinces" competition across Cambodia.

Addressing attendees at the Inauguration Ceremony of the Botum Stupa at Moniratanarama Pagoda in Pursat City, Pursat Province, Prime Minister Hun Manet emphasized the importance of responsible behavior and sobriety during the festive season. He urged citizens to refrain from drinking alcohol and driving, emphasizing the need for collective responsibility in ensuring road safety.

As part of the initiative, Prime Minister Hun Manet called upon each province to participate in a competition aimed at minimizing traffic accidents. Provinces that achieve a traffic-free status during the Khmer New Year period will be eligible to receive commendation and awards from the Prime Minister.

With the Khmer New Year festivities approaching, the initiative aims to encourage provinces to implement effective measures to prevent road accidents, ultimately contributing to safer roads and a more secure environment for all citizens.
