Australia to Foster Online Scamming Cooperation with Cambodia

Phnom Penh, March 29, 2024 – Australia is set to enhance its relations and cooperative efforts with Cambodia, with a particular focus on security issues along the border.

This commitment was highlighted by Justin Whyatt, Ambassador of Australia to Cambodia, during a courtesy visit to Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sar Sokha at the ministry on March 27.

The collaboration will primarily target online scams, drug trafficking, as well as addressing technological, economic, and transnational crimes.

Ambassador Whyatt commended the Ministry of Interior for its effective security measures and expressed appreciation for the ministry's willingness to cooperate with Australia.

Deputy Prime Minister Sar Sokha welcomed the initiative, expressing gratitude to the Ambassador, the Embassy of Australia to Cambodia, and the Australian government for their ongoing support towards enhancing Cambodia's security and overall development.
