*Phnom Penh, March 20, 2024 -* In a significant announcement, Prime Minister Hun Manet reiterated the Royal Government's commitment to extend the water supply system across the entirety of Cambodia by the year 2030.

Addressing the audience during the closing ceremony of the Ministry of Rural Development on March 20, 2024, the Prime Minister highlighted the government's determination to ensure access to clean water for all citizens. He acknowledged the ongoing efforts to establish clean water plants but emphasized the importance of alternative sources such as wells and ponds to provide communities with clean water.

"While we continue to work on building clean water plants, we must also utilize existing resources such as wells and ponds to ensure people have access to clean water," remarked the Prime Minister.

Despite the existing challenges in some regions lacking sufficient clean water infrastructure, the Prime Minister assured that wells and ponds have been instrumental in providing communities with essential water resources. Currently, approximately 85 percent of the country is covered by clean water infrastructure, with plans in motion to achieve full coverage by 2030, ensuring every village and commune has access to clean water.

The announcement underscores the government's commitment to improving the quality of life for all Cambodian citizens by addressing fundamental necessities such as clean water access.
