Cambodia’s Minister of Information Advocates for Inclusion and Recognition of Disabled Individuals’ Talents

Phnom Penh, March 20, 2024 – Neth Pheaktra, Cambodia's Minister of Information, has made a heartfelt appeal for societal acknowledgment of the capabilities and talents of individuals with disabilities, urging an end to any form of discrimination against them. He emphasized viewing people with disabilities as valuable human resources essential for national development.

This call to action was made during a ceremony on the morning of March 19, 2024, at the Vocational Training Center for the Blind and the Samneang Music Association for the Disabled, located in Chum Rao Village, Sangkat Kork Roka, Khan Prek Pnov, and Phnom Penh. The event celebrated the awarding of certificates to staff members with visual and physical disabilities who have shown proficiency in reading, writing, news reporting, and contemporary music.

Minister Pheaktra’s message underscores the importance of inclusivity and recognition of all individuals' contributions, irrespective of their physical abilities, towards fostering a more cohesive and progressive society. By highlighting the achievements and potential of people with disabilities, the Minister aims to shift perceptions and encourage a collective effort to nurture and utilize every citizen's talents for the greater good of the nation.
