MAFF Encourages Increased Agricultural Investment

Phnom Penh, March 19, 2024 – The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries (MAFF) has expressed support for further investments in Cambodia's agricultural sector. This encouragement came as MAFF officials met with representatives from CSNC Agriculture Co., Ltd., who are planning to expand their investment into the cultivation of cashews, among other crops.

During the meeting held on March 18, Minister Dith Tina highlighted the importance of having a comprehensive investment plan that aligns with the government's national policies. He assured that the ministry would provide necessary support and facilitation to ensure the investment's success and sustainability.

The Minister urged CSNC Agriculture Co., Ltd. to consider partnerships with modern agricultural communities capable of large-scale, high-quality production suitable for export. He emphasized the need for cost-effective production methods that yield high value-added products, efficient production lines, and tangible economic benefits.

In addition to cashew nuts, CSNC Agriculture Co., Ltd. has shown interest in expanding its investment to include mango and durian cultivation as well as bird's nest production. This move is seen as a positive step towards diversifying Cambodia’s agricultural portfolio and enhancing the sector's contribution to the national economy.
