Phnom Penh’s Borey Orchid and Bantorn Plea Village Locked Down

Phnom Penh: Phnom Penh’s Borey Orchid and Bantorn Plea Village in Chroy Changvar are both in lockdown. The district authority is collecting test samples after a total of 35 people tested positive for Covid-19. Some of them are suspected of having the Delta variant.

The district authority moved to lock down both areas at around 8.30 this morning. Medical teams collected the first batch of samples between 9am and 12 noon. 28 out of 602 tests were found to be positive. At around 1.30pm on Tuesday, doctors continued taking samples, finding another seven cases over the course of the afternoon, one of them a child.

This is the second time in as many weeks that Borey Orchid has been temporarily closed for Covid-19 testing. It was first blocked on 15-16 August. Over those two days, 43 positive people were found.
