Cambodian Ministry and Korean Partners Forge Ahead with Water Resource Projects

Phnom Penh, March 19, 2024 – Striding towards enhancing Cambodia's water resource management, the Minister of Water Resources and Meteorology convened with the leadership from the Korea Water Resources Development Corporation (K-Water) and the ASIA Water Council (AWC). The meeting, aimed at bolstering project cooperation within Cambodia, was held on March 18 at the ministry's headquarters.

During the dialogue, Minister Thor Chetha expressed gratitude to Mr. Seog-dae Yun, alongside K-Water and AWC, for their instrumental contributions to the advancement of Cambodia’s water resources and meteorological sectors. He acknowledged the profound impact of their collaborative projects on the nation's development.

Mr. Seog-dae Yun reciprocated the appreciation, thanking Minister Chetha for his pivotal support and valuable insights which have significantly facilitated the successful implementation of various projects by K-Water and AWC in Cambodia. Further cementing their collaborative ties, Mr. Yun extended an invitation to Minister Chetha to participate in the upcoming World Water Forum, scheduled for May in Bali, Indonesia.

Since 1999, the Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology, in partnership with K-Water and AWC, has embarked on several key projects. These initiatives have been strategically deployed along the Mekong Delta and in specific provinces such as Kampong Speu, Kampong Chhnang, and Battambang, marking a concerted effort to fortify Cambodia’s resilience and sustainability in water resource management.

The meeting underscores a continued commitment to collaborative efforts in addressing water resource challenges, ensuring the sustainable development of Cambodia’s water and meteorological infrastructures.
