National Committee Against Child Labor Advocates for Increased Public Awareness

Phnom Penh, March 18, 2024 – Heng Sour, Minister of Labor and Vocational Training and Chairman of the National Committee Against Child Labor, has called for a ramp-up in public dissemination of the committee's activities. This appeal was made during the committee's inaugural meeting for the new term, which took place at the ministry on the morning of March 18, 2024.

Minister Heng Sour emphasized the need for enhanced communication to better inform the public about the committee's endeavors and the Royal Government of Cambodia's initiatives aimed at preventing child labor. This move, he believes, will significantly contribute to a more effective and comprehensive protection of children's rights.

The meeting marked the committee's first assembly, focusing on introducing the committee's new members as per the recent appointment decision and strengthening inter-ministerial collaboration to more efficiently combat all forms of child labor.

Following the introduction of the committee's updated roster, the session saw active participation from various ministries, including the committee's vice-chairs and members, discussing strategies to bolster the fight against child labor.

Moreover, Minister Heng Sour encouraged the committee to adopt a more proactive stance, ensuring tangible progress and advancements in the battle against child labor. This approach underscores the government's commitment to safeguarding children's rights and fostering a protective environment for the nation's youth.
