Kampong Speu, March 15, 2024 – The Kampong Speu Polytechnic Institute has embarked on a mission to empower the youth of Cambodia by announcing the recruitment of nearly 570 individuals from impoverished backgrounds and young people with disabilities for its free vocational training program's second phase.

The institute offers specialized training in a variety of technical and vocational skills, including plastering, plumbing, electrical wiring, formwork, security camera installation and maintenance, electric welding, automobile maintenance and repair, car air conditioning service, electric and vehicle repair, as well as courses in human resources, computer services, customer service, graphic design, home air conditioning, beverage business, Khmer cuisine, and agriculture, such as mango cultivation, turmeric farming, fish breeding, and the processing of vegetables and fruits.

According to the institute, this invaluable opportunity is open to young people aged 15 and up from vulnerable families nationwide, who can study free of charge and receive a monthly allowance of 280,000 riels until they graduate. Graduates of the program will be awarded a technical and vocational degree from the Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training, with the option to pursue further education after completion of their studies at the institute. Notably, young people who possess a disability ID card or a health equity fund card are also entitled to free education, although they will not be eligible for the stipend.

Enrollment for the second phase of this skill-enhancing initiative is set to begin on May 1, 2024. This follows the successful commencement of the first phase of vocational and technical training programs, which have been running smoothly since their inception on January 15, 2024, across the country.
