Cambodian Prime Minister Highlights the Drive for Digital Revolution

*Phnom Penh, March 11, 2024* - Prime Minister Hun Manet of Cambodia has underscored the nation's commitment to embracing the digital revolution as a strategic pathway to bolster productivity and economic efficiency. This ambitious endeavor aims to position Cambodia for greater strength and adaptability in the global arena.

Speaking at the inaugural Digital Government Forum and International Digital Government and Digital Technology Exhibition held at the Koh Pich Convention Center in Phnom Penh, Hun Manet emphasized the transformative potential of the digital revolution. The event, convened on March 11, 2024, served as a platform for industry experts, policymakers, and stakeholders to deliberate on Cambodia's digital governance and technological future.

The rapid advancements in information and communication technology characterizing the digital revolution offer a unique opportunity to elevate productivity, enhance economic efficiency, and nurture a vibrant civil society. "The digital revolution will empower Cambodia through the widespread adoption of digital services, fostering societal participation while ensuring reliability and security," remarked Prime Minister Hun Manet. He also stressed the paramount importance of preserving Cambodia's rich cultural identity amidst the tide of technological progress.

The Cambodian government has already embarked on several pivotal information technology projects, with a focus on areas such as cash flow management, finance, and social data systems. These initiatives underscore the government's unwavering commitment to integrating digital solutions across diverse sectors.

A cornerstone of these endeavors is the implementation of the first phase of the Pentagon strategy outlined by the Cambodian government's seventh mandate. This comprehensive strategy prioritizes five crucial areas: people, infrastructure, water resources, electricity, and technology, with a pronounced emphasis on technology as a pivotal component. Such emphasis reflects the government's steadfast dedication to nurturing a digital economy and society, signaling a progressive stance towards national development and prosperity.
