Phnom Penh, March 11, 2024: Prime Minister Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet of Cambodia has elucidated the rationale behind the country's decision to embrace the digital revolution, citing its potential to enhance productivity and economic efficiency, thus propelling Cambodia towards greater strength and agility.
The digital revolution, characterized by harnessing advancements in information and communication technology, is poised to elevate productivity, bolster economic efficiency, and foster the development of a more civilized society. Prime Minister Hun Manet underscored these benefits during his address at the opening ceremony of the 1st Digital Government Forum and Cambodia International Digital Government and Digital Technology Exhibition, held at the Koh Pich Convention Center in Phnom Penh on Monday, March 11, 2024.
Hun Manet emphasized that the digital revolution will empower Cambodia by facilitating widespread access to digital services, fostering participation across all segments of society, and ensuring reliability and security while preserving the nation's unique identity and cultural heritage.
Currently, the Cambodian government has initiated several information technology projects, particularly in the realms of cash flow management, finance, and social data systems.
Of particular significance is the implementation of the Pentagon Strategy - Phase 1 by the seventh-mandate Cambodian government, which prioritizes five key areas: people, infrastructure, water resources, electricity, and technology. Technology emerges as a pivotal focus within the fifth pentagon, underlining the nation's commitment to "Building a Digital Economy and Society."
