PM's Strategic Melbourne Meetings Boost ASEAN-Australia Relations

Phnom Penh: As the Australian ASEAN Summit concludes, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet's engagements in Melbourne have showcased Cambodia's commitment to enhancing regional and bilateral relations.

During his visit for the ASEAN-Australia Special Summit, PM Manet engaged in key meetings, notably receiving a warm reception from the Governor of Victoria, which is expected to open doors for closer ties between Cambodia and Victoria.

At the summit's core, marking the 50th Anniversary of ASEAN-Australia Dialogue Relations, Manet participated in the Plenary Session alongside ASEAN and Australian leaders. This gathering led to the anticipated Melbourne Declaration and the ASEAN-Australia Leaders' Vision Statement, highlighting the historical and ongoing economic cooperation and trust between the regions, as emphasized by Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese.

Manet's economic diplomacy shone through as he sought opportunities for collaboration with Australian business leaders and regional counterparts, culminating in the Cambodia-Australia Business Forum. This forum underscored Cambodia's economic potential and openness to foreign investment.

Furthermore, Manet's bilateral discussions with leaders from Vietnam, Singapore, Indonesia, and Australia underlined a dedication to strengthening ties and exploring new areas of cooperation.

Amidst these diplomatic activities, the support of the Cambodian community in Australia was acknowledged, contrasting with a small group of dissenters. This reflects Manet's appeal for unity and peace among Cambodians globally.

The visit also saw a significant business collaboration between the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce (CCC) and the Victorian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), reinforcing Cambodia's international economic engagements.

Prime Minister Hun Manet's active participation in Melbourne has not only highlighted Cambodia's role on the global stage but also affirmed its pursuit of growth, stability, and prosperity in collaboration with international partners.

Moreover, Cambodian communities across Australia and New Zealand extended a heartfelt welcome to PM Hun Manet and First Lady Dr. Pich Chanmony Hun Manet, underscoring the significance of this visit ahead of the ASEAN-Australia Special Summit, a landmark event celebrating half a century of dialogue and cooperation between ASEAN and Australia.
