Cambodian Agriculture Minister Dith Tina Holds Productive Talks with US Ambassador Patrick Murphy

Phnom Penh: on Monday morning, March 4, 2024, Dith Tina, Cambodia's Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, hosted a working discussion with Patrick Murphy, the United States Ambassador to Cambodia, at the ministry's headquarters.

The meeting was marked by a mutual appreciation of the longstanding cooperation between the Cambodian Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries and the United States. Minister Dith Tina took the opportunity to detail the ministry's policy directions and priority programs aimed at fostering the sustainable development of Cambodia's agricultural sector, its economy, and the environment. Emphasizing a shared commitment to deepening collaboration, Ambassador Murphy assured continued US support for the ministry's priority projects and policy initiatives.

The conversation also ventured into prospective projects with a focus on agricultural development, conservation of natural resources, and the prevention of zoonotic diseases under the One Health initiative. Ambassador Murphy highlighted the importance of transparent information sharing by relevant ministries and institutions, which has been instrumental in effectively curbing the spread of infectious diseases.

Looking ahead, Minister Dith Tina expressed his enthusiasm for future cooperation to be conducted with integrity and transparency. Both parties agreed to establish an orientation committee to streamline all agricultural cooperation projects within a unified framework. This framework aims to align with the Royal Government's priority policies, ultimately benefiting the Cambodian populace and farming community.

This meeting underscores the robust partnership between Cambodia and the United States in the agricultural domain, promising continued collaboration for the betterment of Cambodia's agricultural landscape and its broader socio-economic development.
