USAID Green Heritage and Conservation International Cambodia Collaborate on Wildlife Conservation in the Cardamom Mountains

Phnom Penh: In celebration of World Wildlife Day on March 3rd, 2024, USAID Green Heritage embraced the theme "Connecting people and the planet" through a unique digital initiative. The organization shared captivating wildlife videos captured by automated cameras strategically placed within the Cardamom Range.

USAID Green Heritage, in partnership with Conservation International Cambodia, has embarked on a project that involves deploying over 200 automated cameras across the Cardamom Mountains. These cameras have been instrumental in capturing a wide array of wildlife activities, offering invaluable insights into the region's biodiversity. The initiative aligns with global efforts to preserve natural habitats and protect endangered species.

The footage obtained from these cameras serves not only as a tool for public engagement and awareness but also as a critical resource for scientific research and conservation planning. By analyzing the data collected, conservationists can adopt more effective strategies for managing and protecting the wildlife in this vital national park.

USAID Green Heritage's collaboration with Conservation International Cambodia highlights a proactive approach to biodiversity monitoring and conservation. It reflects a collective commitment to safeguarding Cambodia's natural heritage for future generations.

As part of the World Wildlife Day celebrations, USAID Green Heritage urges the public to join in the efforts to protect endangered species from extinction. By spreading awareness, refraining from consuming wild animals, and supporting conservation initiatives, we can contribute to a sustainable future where both people and the planet thrive.
