Nearly Seven Tons of Longan Fruit Distributed to Pursat Frontline Workers

Pursat: After Prime Minister’s announcement that he will buy Longan fruit harvests from farmers affected by Covid-19 restrictions, nearly seven tons of the fruit were distributed to the frontline workers in Pursat province on Sunday. Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces General Hing Bun Heang together with Prime Minister Hun Sen and Bun Rany Hun Sen have visited the province to personally hand-over the fruits to the frontline workers.

The hand-over ceremony was attended by the provincial officials of Pursat thanking the Prime Minister for his effort in helping the frontline workers while battling against the spread of Covid-19. Farmers living in the border areas with Thailand have been experiencing difficulties in selling their fruit harvests as Thailand struggles with Covid-19. The farmers normally export the Longan fruit to Thailand. However, with the restrictions due to the Covid-19 crisis, they lost a lot of income. This resulted to Prime Minister’s move to buy the fruit harvests of the farmers to help them regain their losses.
