Phnom Penh: Prime Minister Hun Manet has announced the Royal Government's commitment to further intensifying its efforts in sports development, aiming to bolster the competitive edge and resilience of Cambodian athletes, both men and women, in their pursuit of victory for the nation.

During a statement, Prime Minister Manet highlighted the government's ongoing initiatives to foster sports education, including the promotion and support of physical infrastructure and the provision of sports facilities and equipment in public areas. These measures are designed to cultivate a love for sports among the populace and encourage widespread participation.

The Prime Minister pointed out that the sports sector has seen significant growth and has become a vital component of Cambodian society, enjoying widespread support across all demographics, irrespective of political beliefs or background. He also noted the role of sports in strengthening Cambodia's diplomatic relations with other countries.

With an eye on future competitions, Prime Minister Manet expressed his hope that Cambodian athletes would redouble their efforts in training to secure more medals for the country. He underscored the importance of continued support from the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports, in both morale and financial terms, urging all stakeholders to contribute to the sustainable growth of the education and sports sectors.

Furthermore, Prime Minister Manet has directed the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports to enhance the organization of national and international championships, aiming to develop a cadre of athletes capable of achieving greater success.

These remarks were made at a ceremony on the afternoon of February 26, 2024, where Prime Minister Manet honored coaches and assistant coaches with gold, silver, and bronze medals from various championships, including the World Championships, the Southeast Asian Championships, the Asian Championships, and the ASEAN University Championship.
