Former PM Hun Sen Visits Thaksin in Thailand, Recalls Longstanding Friendship

BANGKOK: Former Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen met with ex-Thai leader Thaksin Shinawatra at his Bangkok residence on Wednesday. In a social media post, Hun Sen confirmed that politics wasn't discussed, instead highlighting their 32-year friendship dating back to 1992.

He stated visiting Thaksin despite his illness and expressed gratitude for the warm welcome from Thaksin and his daughter, the Pheu Thai Party leader, Ung Ing. Hun Sen emphasized, "The two former prime ministers did not talk about politics, but commemorated the 32 years of our friendship since 1992. Thank you brother and niece for welcoming me today."

Extending an invitation, Hun Sen further invited Ung Ing to visit Cambodia on March 14-15, 2024, presumably to strengthen bilateral ties.
