Philippine Embassy in Cambodia Hosts Health Screening and Blood Drive for National Cancer Awareness Month

Phnom Penh: The Philippine Embassy in Cambodia has announced a collaboration with the Samahan ng mga Pilipino sa Cambodia (SAMAPI), the Prime Phnom Penh Cambodia Eagles Club, and the Lady Eagles Club to organize a comprehensive health screening and blood donation event. Scheduled for Sunday, 18 February 2024, at the embassy grounds, this event underscores the community's commitment to health and wellness.

The health screening, dubbed the Medical Mission, will commence at 8:00 AM, offering attendees access to medical consultations and screenings conducted by volunteer doctors and nurses from the local community. This initiative aims to promote early detection and prevention of cancer among the Filipino community in Cambodia, aligning with the global efforts to combat this disease.

Following the medical mission, a blood drive will take place from 1:30 PM to 5:00 PM, supervised by the Cambodia Blood Service, specifically the National Blood Transfusion Center (NBTC) of Cambodia. This critical component of the day's activities emphasizes the importance of blood donation in saving lives, particularly for patients undergoing cancer treatment and other critical medical procedures.

In addition to the health-focused activities, the Consular section of the embassy will open its doors for the month's Sunday Consular Service from 1:00 PM to 3:30 PM. This special session offers consular assistance and services to the Filipino community, facilitating a range of consular needs in a convenient weekend slot.

The Philippine Embassy in Cambodia invites all members of the Filipino community and the general public to join in this noble cause. By participating in the health screening and blood drive, individuals can contribute to the fight against cancer and support the health and wellbeing of those in need.

This event not only fosters a spirit of community and solidarity but also raises awareness about cancer and the critical role of regular health screenings and blood donation in saving lives.
