CDC Approves New Factory Investments to Create Nearly 30,000 Jobs

PHNOM PENH: As of January 1, 2024, the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC) approved 32 new projects and production expansion projects expected to create nearly 29,000 jobs with a total investment of over $187 million US.

According to a CDC press release, the most prominent monthly investment projects include an electronics factory in Takeo’s Samrong District; a factory to assemble motorbikes, bicycles, electric tuk-tuks and batteries in Kandal’s Kien Svay District; an aluminum, steel and copper processing factory in Kampong Speu’s Kong Pisey District; and a textile and garment factory in Preah Sihanouk’s Kampong Seila District.

As of January 2024, more than 78% of investment came from China, 9.65% from Singapore, 5.34% from the United States, 3.55% from South Korea, and 2.73% was domestic investment.
