Police Arrest Military Officer for Shooting Egret from His Car

KRATIE: The Kratie Provincial Administration issued a press release on the arrest of a military police officer who shot an egret in Kratie City.

The arrest came following a social media post that featured the man in a black Camry shooting a gun from his car. The great egret is one of Cambodia’s treasured heron species and the symbol of America’s National Audubon Society. Law enforcement opened an investigation into the case and found the military officer had used an air gun to kill the bird in the Chit Borei District on the morning of January 30. The man is currently being detained by the provincial military police, who have confiscated evidence and are following legal procedures.
