Ministry Warns Company Against Advertising Work in South Korea

PHNOM PENH: Minister of Labor Heng Sour responded to reports of a company advertising work in South Korea, emphasizing that only the Ministry is authorized to recruit workers to send abroad, including seasonal workers.

"The sending of workers to Korea, including seasonal workers, is a transfer between ministries or provinces,” he said. “These ads are invalid. Please remove the broadcast immediately”.

in the announcement dated January 25, the Minister of Labor added that only the Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training has the right to recruit, train and send workers to South Korea legally, including the recruitment and transfer of seasonal workers.

The Ministry called on the Siem Reap-based Association for the Promotion of Workers and Veterans for Charity to immediately stop any outreach activities related to seasonal recruitment in South Korea.

It said that any association or training school found to violate to the content of the press release, is guilty of fraud and human trafficking, and that the Ministry will cooperate with the competent authority to take legal action.
