World Bank Reaffirms Commitment to Cambodian Nation-Building

PHNOM PENH: The Royal Government of Cambodia and the World Bank are committed to strengthening cooperation on human capital development in Cambodia and in a number of priority areas, including education, health, agriculture, digital technology, environment and climate change.

On January 29, Prime Minister Hun Manet held a meeting with Managing Director of Cambodia, Myanmar and Laos for the World Bank, Mariam J. Sherman.

The Managing Director praised the progress and improvement of Cambodia’s strong and long-lasting relationship with the World Bank and said she was confident that her meeting with the PM would promote further cooperation.

She also commented on the interconnectedness and consistency between the Cambodian government’s Pentagon Strategy and the World Bank’s policies and direction for Cambodia and the world.

The PM welcomed the World Bank representative to Cambodia and expressed his gratitude to the institution for its contribution to Cambodia’s socio-economic development. He praised the commitment of the World Bank to continue cooperating with his administration under the Royal Government-World Bank Partnership Program for 2025-2029.

He also reviewed the six priority policies of his government slated for immediate implementation in addition to the five measures outlined in the Pentagon Strategy, which aims to make Cambodia a high-income country by 2050.
