USAID to Continue Education and Environmental Aid in Cambodia

DAVOS: During a working meeting with Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet in Davos, Switzerland on January 17, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Director Samantha Power confirmed that USAID will continue to provide additional assistance in the fields of education and environment in Cambodia.

During the meeting, the President of USAID informed the PM about the progress of USAID's work in Cambodia, especially in the fields of education and early childhood protection through cooperation between USAID and the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports, in hygiene education programs and school facilities for young children.

She also commended the Royal Government of Cambodia for its efforts to reduce infectious diseases and reduce infant and child mortality under the age of five. At the same time, she emphasized the continuation of existing cooperation and continued assistance in the field of education and the environment, focusing on the conservation of biodiversity, protection of ecosystems and the improvement of community life in Cambodia.

In response, the PM expressed his appreciation for USAID's past projects in Cambodia and praised USAID for its support and assistance in contributing to Cambodia's socio-economic development and growth.

He also thanked the US Government for its decision to provide $18 million US in assistance through USAID which was discussed during his meeting with US Deputy Secretary of State Victoria Nuland during his visit to the UN General Assembly in New York.
